Hello,
I am from Germany and will move to Norway. Do not speak Norwegian yet. I am looking for a good riding school in Akershus (area around Ski, can be further too if it's a good one).
I have no own horse. I would like to take lessons in Dressur if possible also in Jumping (group and also single/privat lessons) and like to ride out as well. A kind of Military/Vielseitigkeits stable is surely not bad too, but I have not much experience in this, but one surely could learn a lot too. Of course it would be good if the stable would have good educated horses and teacher. Sometimes riding a smaller horse is okay but I prefer bigger one. Could somebody recommend a stable?
Does somebody know the Drobak Ridesenter?

From what I hear about Drøbak Ridesenter, it is a big facility that has a lot to offer. I suggest You make contact with them and give them a call or go to check out the center out when You arrive in Norway.
Horses and riding are both a matter of taste, and what falls in good taste with me might not be Your preference at all... ;-)

Good Luck!

Best Regards, Line.

Thanks Line. Of course matter of taste. But I just would like to have some informations, impressions or experiences from other people.

Big riding centers can be also impersonal but not necessaraly.
I like very much to ride out but I also like to have lessons. Maybe somebody has informations about stables in already mentioned area.

hey
I ride at drøbak ridingschool and i think it's very good there. I have been riding there for four years now and I really like it. They have both small and big horses there, the big ones are the best.
I have a homepage about the stabels. Its in Norwegian but you can look at the pictures if you want. www.home.no/drobakrideskole

Its also a ridingschool in Ski but i dont know much about it.

It's also one at Revhaug gård in vestby. But there are only Icelandhorses there.

Revhaug is so far a very nice place, I only came there a few weeks ago, but everyone's nice, and the average age of the riders are quite high, which makes the place very personal. Too bad, would someone say, there're only icelandic horses there. But the riding school seems very nice, with only 5 or less pr. lesson, I do think they go out on hacks (nice terrain there, some roads, but not much) - they also have show jumping clinics, if you like that, along with the regular icelandic clinics with some of Norway's very well known riders.

The stable yard contains an oval track, a 20 x 60 (if I'm not wrong) m. arena and a round paddock.
Not sure about how many horses there are there right now, but I think it's 8 private ones.

The train ride from Oslo S to Vestby takes about 30 min., and about 10 min. from Ski.
:-)

Thanks Cathrine-Camilla, just looked at the pictures. Can one ride out there with the school horses too? Guess some of the teachers speak Englisch (or maybe even German? :-) ?
Formosissima will check out this stable too, but I am sure that I don't want to ride just on Iceland horse. Thanks even thoug.
